PhD Researcher - AI in Construction Safety and BIM.

I am a Civil Engineer driven by a passion for integrating cutting-edge technology into the world of construction. In the past, I have worked as a Structural Designer and BIM/VDC Engineer. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD and MS in Civil Engineering at NC State. My research focuses on the intersection of AI particularly Natural Language Processing, and its applications in construction safety, engineering, and management under the guidance of Dr. Alex Albert.

Building on a foundation in Civil Engineering, I am also working toward an MS in ECE at NC State. By blending these two disciplines, I am trying to advance multidisciplinary research focused on how optimization algorithms, sensors, and automation can improve the various phase of construction like preconstruction design optimization, safety during construction and structural health monitoring post-construction.

I am also a robotics enthusiast with some research and project experience in the field of Construction Robotics and Structural health monitoring using UAV/UGV. I like to create AR, VR environments using Game engines and create snippets using Python and MATLAB for educational purposes.

In addition to my research, I serve as a Teaching Assistant in the Civil Engineering Department at NC State for the past 3 years. I teach Surveying Laboratory, Building Construction Engineering, Construction Equipment, and Legal Aspects of Contracting. I also previously founded Fresco Structures, a non-profit consultancy aimed at making a positive impact on the construction sector with my UG Buddies! I am also proud to have been part of the NC State team that won first place in the Preconstruction design and Bid Simulation category at the ASC Region 2 Student Competition in 2022.

In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, cooking, and spending quality time with my loved ones. I also like playing video games and creating digital artworks, especially vectors and 3D sculpting. I love tinkering with computer parts and assembling electronics. Recently, I have become fascinated with cars and motorcycles!

Teaching Experience

My Teaching Journey

Courses Taught as Graduate Teaching Assistant

  1. CE 301 - SURVEYING LABORATORY (Fall'22, Spring'23, Fall'23, and Spring'24)
  2. Guided students through experiments in Differential Leveling, Closed Traverse, Resection (Total station), Google Earth, Building Layout (Total station), Topographic Surveying (QT Reader), and GPS Rover (Carlson Civil suite). Students learned to collect, analyze, and present survey data, while gaining hands-on experience with traditional and modern surveying tools, enhancing their practical and analytical skills.

  3. CE 466 - BUILDING CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING (Fall'22, Fall'23, Fall'24)
  4. Taught students to building construction engineering, focusing on design and construction skills necessary for successful project delivery, especially with Integrated Project Delivery. Topics include building component design, safety, excavation support, formwork, and wood design. Students will learn to estimate loads, design wood structures, and select excavation systems, while addressing safety issues and using building codes effectively.

  5. CE 365 - CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT METHODS (Spring'25)
  6. Study of construction operations as dynamic production processes. Utilization of equipment and other resources to achieve highest levels of productivity, safety, and quality. Covers a wide range of traditional and state-of-the-art construction methods.

  7. CE 464/564 - LEGAL ASPECTS OF CONTRACTING (Spring'25)
  8. Introduces legal topics in the construction industry, covering contract issues, management concerns, and professional ethics. Students learn about contract components, change orders, bonds, insurance, dispute resolution, and licensing requirements. The course provides practical knowledge, preparing students for legal challenges in construction.

I believe teaching is not just about delivering content; it’s about inspiring curiosity and empowering students to grow both academically and personally.
